West End Community Questions: Round One

West End Community Questions: Round One

If plans move forward as expected, ECP hopes to close on the property by Fall 2019; enter a construction phase by the second quarter 2020; and open the first buildings by the end of 2021.

The factors that will determine the ultimate mall’s closure include varying lease terms for existing tenants, relocation strategies, and the construction timetable required by federal Opportunity Zones.

Redevelopment of this site will create innumerable benefits to the surrounding community. These include expanded options for shopping and dining, new business opportunities including new tools for economic development, and new cultural spaces and events that celebrate the special history of West End. Community input on shaping these benefits will continue through Spring and Summer of 2019.

ECP will support existing West End Mall retailers in several ways throughout the redevelopment process. This includes leveraging existing tools and creating a new $10M+ economic development fund created through the Opportunity Zone to ensure local businesses play a major role in the development and growth of the community.
